Myth #1: A person must drink 64 ounces of water everyday.
The Reality - A person needs about 64 ounces of fluid a day.
Fluids include milk, coffee, tea, both, and all of the foods we eat (fruits and vegetables are mostly water).
Too much fluid can be detrimental to one's health: It dilutes the electrolytes to the point where the body cannot function properly.
Myth #2: To build muscle, consume large quantities of protein.
The Reality - Fifteen grams of protein are needed to build one pound of muscle.
In the initial and improvement training, a person will build a pound of muscle in two weeks.
This would mean one gram of protein a day would be needed to build that muscle.
There are seven grams of protein in one ounce of meat. Americans currently consume about 60 grams more protein per day than they need.
So, do Your clients need to supplement? Obviously, a person does not need extra protein to build muscle.
Those extra drinks and bats add calories to an already obese nation.
They also make the kidneys work harder to get rid of the byproducts (urea) of the extra protein.
Myth #3: Aspartame causes brain tumors.
The Reality - Aspartame (the sugar substitute Equal) has been on the market for over 20 years,
and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has found no problems in double blind placebo studies.
The Internet is responsible for the perpetuation of this type of myth.
Aspartame is an artificial sweetener, not an artificial substance.
The average person would consume more of the amino acid Phenylalanine in a chicken breast than in a packet of Equal.
Myth #4: Some foods should be eaten alone and other should be combined.
The reality - Scientific data indicates that the gut works best with a variety of foods eaten at the same time.
This provides all the different vitamins and minerals needed for good digestion and absorption.
Also, different areas of the digestive tract are used for different nutrients. By eating only one food,
one area is overworked while the others do nothing.
Myth #5: Sugar makes people hyper.
The reality - Sugar is a carbohydrate, and carbohydrates are soothing nutrients.
They elevate serotonin levels in the brain and make us feel calm. That is why a person reachers for sugar when upset.
Myth #6: If it is all natural, it is good for you.
The Reality: Everything is all - natural. All products are derived from natural substances as their beginnings.
Cocaine is all natural, strait from the plant, but they are not good for you.
Soil is all - natural; that does not mean a person would want to ingest it.
This term is often used to make people think something is good for you.
Ma huang is a good example of promoting something dangerous by using the term "natural."
In reality, it is an amphetamine - like substance that can kill you.
Myth #9: Pesticides and additives in foods are killing us.
The reality - You have 1 in 3 chance of dying from heart disease.
The chance of being killed in an automobile accident is 1 in 81.
The chance of being struck by lightening is 1 in 55,928.
The chance of dying from foodstuffs and poisonous plants is 1 in 1,174,481.
This would include death from food poisoning, additives, pesticides, etc.
SO the benefits from eating fruits and vegetables far outweigh any negatives from the way they were grown.
